Windows 7 is about 2 months from final release date. Millions of people are already using Windows 7 RC (Release Candidate - the pre-release version). Many MSDN and TechNet subscribers (mostly companies) already have Windows 7 RTM (Release to Manufacture - the final release) and are testing it for integration into their enterprise or compatibility with their products - such is the state of things in the Microsoft realm.
Whether you like Microsoft, like to hate them or just hate them, Windows 7 is going to be a huge success and will change everything we know about Windows - like Windows 95 did after Windows 3.1. (Actually, Windows 98 fixed Windows 95, kind of like Windows 7 will do for Vista.) Most likely, Windows 7 will be the next operating system you use. In the mean time, if you have Vista and want to speed it up, be sure to read the article "Vista, You Just Need to Run Faster."
For those of you who would like to muse over getting a free copy of the final Windows 7 operating system, consider going to a techie convention - its free and coming to a city near you. Can't go, no problem. Those freebies will probably show up for sale on EBay by enterprising souls not interested in upgrading.
