Draft Bittman for Windows Development VP

Tuesday September 29, 2009
Today I am talking about food and operating systems and pose the question: Why Can't Microsoft Windows Operating Systems be like a Bittman Recipe? This may sound odd, but humor me for a couple paragraphs.

There's a NY Times writer named Mark Bittman (no relation) who has written many cookbooks and a show dedicated to "less is more." The series I tivo is called "The Minimalist"; he also has a killer Foodie web site called "Bitten."

My point: Less IS more. If we could configure things in Windows as fast and easy as Bittman can put together a stellar meal, we would all be much, much happier with Microsoft products - probably fatter and happier.

For now, we will have to settle for the advent of Windows 7 that will, in many ways, change what we know about Windows. It will also be easier and prettier. Microsoft is still working on the concept of less is more - maybe they should hire Bittman for Windows Development VP - at least that way we would know the next version is palatable.
