About.com Guide to Windows

Hello. I am your Guide to Microsoft Windows for About.com. I will teach you to easily and effectively use Microsoft Windows. My goal is to help you get the information you need to quickly accomplish whatever it is you want to do with Windows.

Also, you can follow me on twitter.

Experience:

I have been writing professionally for over 20 years - 12 of those years in the creation, promotion and management of Online Marketing and Ecommerce sites for large Multinational Corporations and Small Businesses. The types of information I have written includes Marketing Communications and Collateral, Technical Documentation, Instructional Design and all documentation for the IT Software Development Life Cycle. Also, by some coincidence, I have used and supported Microsoft products since 1988. My experience spans DOS 3.3, Windows 3.1, 98, 2000, XP and Vista.

I have built and fixed personal computers for the last 20 years. Computers tend to fear me and do what they're told. Otherwise, I make other things out of them: Answering Machines, Printer Servers, Door Stops and an occasional Boat Anchor.

Education:

M.S. Technology Management, Southern Methodist University (SMU)
B.A. Journalism, University of Massachusetts/Amherst

From Mark Baggesen:

Here is my philosophy about technology: It must empower users to achieve their goals. Technology exists only to serve the needs of business and individual goals, so it should focus on that point. Technology without a clear, cogent purpose is worthless.

The phrase "if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem" should be the mantra for every I.T. support person and technology group in the world. What you will see in this Windows forum is my commitment to making technology enable success.
