If you are looking for a Mac-like experience in Windows 7 or you are simply looking to relocate the taskbar to a location on the screen that works best for you, the option is available in Windows 7.
In this guide I will show you how to relocate the taskbar in Windows 7 to one of the four edges on the screen. I will also show you how to use the taskbar's auto-hide feature to regain some screen real estate.
Unlock the Taskbar
1. Right-click a blank area anywhere on the taskbar to open the right-click menu and then click Lock the taskbar from the menu.
Note: When you unlock the taskbar you will not only be able to relocate the taskbar, but you will also be able to adjust the size of the Notification Area and other toolbars on the taskbar.
