Freecell is a solitaire game included in Windows Vista
Freecell is a solitaire card game included in every Windows Vista edition and previous versions of Microsoft Windows. The goal of Freecell is to move all the cards to the four home cells. Each of the home cells holds a suite of cards in sequential order, beginning with the Ace.
In Freecell, you can make three types of moves. First, you can move a card to its home cell if it is the next card in the sequence. The cards must match in suit, and they must go in order. For example, you can move a Two of Diamonds on top of the Ace of Diamonds.
To free up additional cards, you can also make stacks of cards in decreasing order in the main playing area. The cards must alternate in color. For instance, you can place a black (Spade or Club) 10 on a red (Diamond or Heart) card.
Finally, you can move any card to one of the four free cells. Each of the free cells can hold only one card. The free cells provide a place to hold a card in order to free up other cards that can be moved to the home cells.
While playing, you can get a hint by clicking on Game > Hint or pressing H on your keyboard. The Game menu also gives you the ability to change game options, change the appearance of the cards of playing area, or start a new game.
