Why You Should Use Windows File Compression

Choose a File to Compress

Use Windows File Compression to reduce the size of a file. The benefit to you will be less space used on your hard drive or other media (CD, DVD, Flash Memory Drive) and faster emailing of attachments. The type of file will determine how much file compression will reduce its size. For example, digital photos (jpegs) are compressed anyway, so compressing one using this tool may not reduce its size. However, if you have a PowerPoint presentation with lots of images in it, file compression will most certainly reduce the file size - perhaps by 50 to 80 percent.
