One added feature of WDS that I love is Deskbar shortcuts. Deskbar shortcuts let you start an application or open a file by entering a few letters or a word in the textbox and pressing Enter.
WDS comes with a few Deskbar shortcuts built in, and it's easy to create your own Deskbar shortcuts. For instance, one of the included shortcuts is "!word". To start Microsoft Word, all you have to do is press CTRL+ALT+M to jump to the search box, then enter "!word" and press Enter.
