Microsoft Security Essentials: You may never go back to McAfee or Symantec

Courtesy Microsoft Corp.

Released at the end of September, Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) replaced the subscription-based "Windows Live One Care", which was never well-received by the public.

MSE, which is free, is a suite of security products that includes protection against viruses, spyware and adware, trojans, rootkits and other damaging software. Reviews of MSE have been quite positive, and praise its simple, clean design and ability to detect and remove malware.

Microsoft has suffered from a perception of a lack of security forever, it seems. MSE may go a long way toward reparing that image.
