Each computer manufacturer may customize this center to add functionality, based on its own unique hardware and software features - that’s the case with the above example from Toshiba.
Generally speaking, the Windows Mobility Center can have the following features:
- Display Brightness - move the slider to adjust the brightness of your display. This is a handy tools to change the screen for easier viewing or dim it to save battery power (also see Power).
- Volume - move the slider to adjust speaker and headset volume ; select the Mute check box for silence.
- Battery Status - view the remaining charge percentage on your battery. You can also select a power plan from the list. see Power for more information about these plans and how to configure them.
- Wireless Network - view the signal strength status of your wireless network connection; turn your wireless adapter on or off.
- External Display - connect an additional external monitor to your laptop; customize the display settings.
- Sync Center – open the Sync Center to view an in-progress file sync, start a new sync with a device or set up a sync partnership.
- Presentation Settings - adjust settings (speaker volume and desktop background image) for giving a presentation.
- Screen Rotation – if you have a Tablet PC, this feature will change the orientation of the screen, from portrait to landscape.
- Other Functions - as customized by your PC's manufacturer.
